Advent - The Greatest Gift of All

Giving and receiving presents is at the heart of our Christmas celebrations. We spend lots of time
and money purchasing gifts which we hope will bring our friends and family pleasure. We know
however that even the most expensive present brings only a transient joy and will soon find its way
to a cupboard or to a drawer.
The incarnation of the Lord Jesus can be considered the greatest gift of all, given to us by God
himself, a present that has purpose and value which is truly eternal. When we take the time to
carefully unwrap the gift of the Lord Jesus we will find a wonderful array of blessings and gifts
which bring a special meaning to Christmas.
These gifts were chosen for us deliberately by God who knows us and knows what we need.
When we take the time to appreciate the wonder of this we also discover these gifts to be not just
what we need but also what we want.
