As we look forward to replanting Bellevue in our new building, we turn to the scriptures to remind us who we are as church and what our role is to be in our city. The identity of the church (who we are) is explored using five biblical metaphors – all but four of which are taken from the Old Testament. The ministry of the church (our role) is considered under the headings worship, fellowship, ministry and witness. As we study these passages, may we gain a new thankfulness and appreciation for God’s great gift of the church, and may we be encouraged to give ourselves more fully to being the people of God in this city, as we seek to both encourage one another and reach out to others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
