Meeting Jesus

“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him.” St. Augustine

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of
this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvellous glory and
excellence.” (2 Peter 1: 3)

Again and again Jesus meets people and talks to them about the most important things in life. As we read
these stories in Scripture we are invited to meet Jesus, ask him the questions on our heart and then listen
for Him as He speaks through the Holy Spirit.

This series is inspired by Tim Keller’s book “Encounters with Jesus” – worth a read for Christians and
searchers alike.

Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding at Cana is his first public miracle and one of his most famous. Why did He do this? As a favour for his mum? To spare a friend embarrassment? Perhaps both! But the miracle is also a signpost that tells us that Jesus’ life brings the promise of something much better and greater than what has gone before.
Did Jesus really rise from the dead? - John 20:1 - 30 - John MacKinnon (Video)
Morning Service, Sunday, October 1, 2023
This is the heart of the matter! If Jesus really did rise from the dead, then that changes everything: we must take Him seriously. What difference does it make if that central claim of the Christian faith is true?
