Abstract/Summary:
By its nature, trust asks for certainty in something that feels uncertain, usually with painful consequences if that trust is mis-placed. So, it’s fair to ask questions like “who can I trust?” or, “why should I trust God?” However, through history, Christians have endured suffering of many kinds as a result of their trust in God. Interestingly, the same Christians who have experienced this are often the most outspoken in their assured trust in God. Why? These people know that when we are asked to trust God, it is not so God can test us. Trials don’t teach God more about us; they teach us more about him. This means that what some see as trials are actually leading to a deeper trust and a stronger relationship with the God who always provides.
